Sometimes in emergency situations, hospitals have
more patients than the number of beds available. This is referred to as a
"medical surge." Surge capacity is the number of patients a hospital can
care for above its normal volume.
Meeting the needs of surge capacity is perhaps
one of the most challenging obstacles healthcare disaster planners
face.
The Moses Cone Surge
Case project's goal is to explore and find innovative solutions
to lessen the effects of medical surge.
During the duration of this project, this Web site
will evolve so that new information is posted each month, including
experiences and lessons learned. So check back often.
Please feel free to use the information from
this project in your organization's planning efforts. The primary
objective of this grant is to share all of the information gained and
developed.
 The navigation bar on
the left will serve as your gateway to the Moses Cone Surge Case
Project.
